Exempt Players who enter prior to the deadline gain immediate acceptance into the championship. All other entries act as an “indication of interest” and are accepted at the discretion of the Sunnehanna Senior Tournament Committee, not based on entry number. Entries are open to male amateur golfers that meet the following requirements.
Players who have reached their 40th birthday on or before the first round of competition (August 19th). Applicants must have a USGA handicap index of 2.0 or less at the time of entry.
Players who have reached their 55th birthday on or before the first round of competition. Applicants must have a USGA handicap index of 4.0 or less.
Players who have reached their 65th birthday on or before the first round of competition. Applicants must have a USGA handicap index of 10.0 or less.
Provided that the starting field size exceeds 90 competitors, at the conclusion of 36 holes the field will be cut to the low 63 players and ties, with pro-rated representation from each division. The pro-rated allocation of players making the cut from each division will be reflective of the number of players in each division, relative to the total field size. The determination of total field size, number of players in each division, and pro-rated representation of players making the cut (before ties) will be announced in conjunction with first round pairings being posted.
All competitors must register prior to the start of the Championship. Players that do not register may be subject to DISQUALIFICATION. Official tournament registration will be held under the awning (weather permitting) adjacent to the first tee Sunday, August 18th, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Competitors who are unable to register on the date and time listed above must contact the tournament committee prior to the championship.
Starting times and pairings for the first and second rounds will be made available no later than Friday, August 16th at 5:00 PM. Copies will also be distributed at registration. Final round starting times and pairings will be available in the evening following second round play via email and online at www.sunnehanna.org Final round starting times will be re-drawn based on total score following the second round of play after the field is cut.
Players may walk or ride at their own discretion. Caddies are permitted but are not guaranteed a cart seat. Cart fees for the tournament are included in the entry fee. Carts are limited to two riders at a time, and a maximum of two carts per group. Please note that once players have signed and attested their scorecards, they are asked to promptly return their cart to the staging area to assist Sunnehanna Country Club in cart management. There is a LIMITED number of caddies provided by the club. Caddies fees are a suggested $80 per round paid directly to the caddie via cash. Please contact the Sunnehanna CC Golf Shop at (814) 255-3106 to reserve a caddie. Caddies are assigned on a first come first serve basis.
Clubhouse facilities at Sunnehanna CC will open daily at 7:00am. Players will be responsible for all food and drink purchased during the practice round, Sunday August 18th. Breakfast and lunch are provided for all three tournament days and are included with each competitor’s entry fee. Guest may dine with players but will be charged the appropriate cost for the same meal. Lockers will be provided to players.
All competitors are invited to attend a cocktail reception on Sunday, August 18. Attendance is not required but HIGHLY recommended. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end around 8:30 p.m. Drinks and food will be available. Dress is, at minimum, golf attire (shorts are permitted, but not preferred).
Practice Facilities at Sunnehanna CC will be available to all competitors for the duration of the Championship. The practice facilities will open Sunday, August 18th at 7:00 AM and throughout each Championship round, beginning one hour prior to the first starting time. The practice range will close at 6:00pm for maintenance following each tournament round.
If you find you cannot compete in the Championship, you must officially withdraw from the event by contacting Tournament Chairman, John Bearrie at (817) 233-1553 or email at doubleeagle.jlb3@gmail.com. If you do not officially withdraw, you may be subject to DISQUALIFICATION from future Sunnehanna Senior Amateur Championships. Any player withdrawing prior to Monday, August 5th at 5:00 PM Central will receive a full refund, less a $25 administrative fee. Any withdrawals after the August 5th deadline will not be entitled to receive a refund, unless a spot is filled by an alternate player on the wait list in the same division.
